MUMBAI: John Abraham made his film debut with Jism (2003). He subsequently established himself as a profitable actor with roles in successful films like Garam Masala, Dostana, New York, Housefull 2, Race 2, Welcome Back, Dishoom, Parmanu, Satyameva Jayate, and Romeo Akbar Walter. Apart from his latest sci-fi action flick 'Attack', John Abraham recently made headlines regarding a promotional event where he lost his cool and slammed a few journalists for asking him dumb questions.

During the promotions of Attack, he got annoyed at a journalist after he was asked a question about 'the unrealistic action sequences in his films'. John lost his cool and called the journalist dumb. In a subsequent interview, John has now addressed the incident and said that he gets riled up when someone asks him 'a stupid question'.

During a promotional event for Attack, a journalist said to John that "it is too much when you are seen fighting 200 people all by yourself, throwing away bikes and stopping choppers with your hands." In response, John first sarcastically apologised to the journalist for 'offending' him. In response to another question later, John added, "I am trying to be mentally fit to answer some crazy questions as people are so dumb. Sorry sir, aap dimaag chod kar aa gaye (You left your brain at home). I apologise for you."

In a recent interview, John addressed the incident and said, "The press, some of you, I don’t generalise, at times, ask very stupid questions, there’s no basis for it also. And I understand we all are humans, at times I really get riled up when I get asked a stupid question."

John added that he later 'laughed about it' with the press and said that such exchanges do not hurt the film's promotions. "Talking about promotions of the film, the press has generally been very supportive. So, when we talk about the press, it is important to make them aware of the film. Because it is through you guys that people come to know when a film is releasing. Of course, there are advertisements and marketing also, but the real promotion of the film is the film itself. If your film is good, it will work. If your film is not good, it won’t work," he added.

Meanwhile, he debuted as a producer with Vicky Donor (2012), which featured Ayushmann Khurrana, Annu Kapoor, and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. It opened to positive response, and turned out to be a critical and commercial success. His second production, Madras Cafe which was also directed by Shoojit Sircar, opened to overwhelming response from the critics. In 2018, he produced the Marathi film Savita Damodar Paranjpe.
