Parambrata Chatterjee paired with X Files' Gillian Anderson in his next release

Parambrata Chatterjee
Vidya Balan’s Kahaani co-star Parambrata Chatterjee is going places. In his next release his romantic lead is the very talented and popular American actress Gillian Anderson who is a household name the world over through her very successful appearance in the series The X Files, not to mention her successful celluloid outings in films like Hannibal and Shadow Dancer. Apparently in Sold, a hard-hitting film about drug trafficking in India and Nepal directed by Jeffrey D Brown, Parambrata and Gillian are cast as the romantic lead. Says a source, “It’s a very subtle kind of attraction, not in-your-face at all. The same kind of implicit relationship that was shown between Parambrata and Vidya in Kahaani.” Parambrata is tightlipped about his role in Sold. All he will say is, he had a terrific time working with the X Files actress, and the rest of the international crew. The Bengali star who has done a string of successful films in Bangla shot to fame in Bollywood with Kahaani. He has just completed his second Hindi film Satish Kaushik’s Gang Of Ghosts which is a remake of the Bangla blockbuster Bhooter Bhobishyat. Parambrata who is common to both the Bangla and Hindi versions of the satirical spook saga says he has completely reinterpreted the original character, and also brushed up his Hindi. Says Parambrata, “There is no point in doing a remake if I repeated my performance. The way I’ve interpreted my character in Gang Of Ghosts is very different from Bhooter Bhobishyat. I play a very cool character. ‘Cool’ is defined differently in Kolkata and in Mumbai. The way I talk and dress and my entire attitude in the Hindi remake is very different. In fact the Hindi remake is very different in tone. Satish Kaushikji has adapted the original brilliantly.” As for his Hindi language Parambrata says he had no choice but to work on his Hindi. “In Gang Of Ghosts my co-star is Sharman Joshi , and he speaks impeccable Hindi. I had no choice but to work on my Hindi. In any case my Hindi was not bad. In Kahaani I had to play a guy who is not supposed to be fluent in Hindi.” He starts another Hindi film, the remake of Rajesh Pillai’s Malayalam blockbuster Traffic in July. Parambrata’s long-distance relationship with his Dutch girlfriend Ike Schouten is very much a part of his life. “We meet as often as possible, I am not able to visit her in the Netherlands as much as I’d like to. But she was here for three months from November to January, “ says Parambrata shyly.
