Rajit considers Vaibhavi Merchant as his mentor and speaking about her, he says,” I have worked with Vaibhavi Ma’am in some amazing projects like Don 2, Dhoom 3, Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultaan ,Bharat, Band Baaja Baraat, Ladies Vs Ricky Behl, Befikre, Student Of The Year, Loveyaatri and Sahoo. I would say my best experience was working on Befikre. We shot the whole film in Paris in 3 months. There used to be a time when Ma’am used to fly back to India to shoot other songs of Sultaan and at the same time I would shoot montage for the songs in Befikre along with director Aditya Chopra sir. I think Ma’am did that because she had confidence in me. She displayed faith and that’s why I got the confidence to become an independent choreographer. But every song I have worked with her has been a learning process.”
Speaking about his greatest take away from the genius choreographer Rajit adds,”My greatest take away from her is the fact that she is so dedicated to the project and looks at the smallest details. She always says it’s your hard work which will make you shine and I am following her advice to the t. I want to make her proud.” So what is your ultimate dream as a choreographer? “My dream as a choreographer is to create my own brand. It should be like the moment you see the song, people should say this looks like Rajit’s choreography. But my dream doesn’t end just with choreography. I want to direct movies someday.”
