MUMBAI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s mega movie Gangubai Kathiawadi starring Alia Bhatt has been pushed further for the second time from its scheduled date. Earlier, it was decided that the film will be released on the big screen on 6 January. It was supposed to clash with SS Rajamouli’s film RRR, which stars Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles.

The makers of the film had earlier made an official announcement that their film has been pushed further to 18 February 2022. Their official statement read, "We are glad to announce that Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has a new release date. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios), the film will release on February 18, 2022."

The film has been further pushed by a week. The makers have yet again released an official statement, which says that the film will release on 25 February 2022. The statement reads, "Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Pen Studios’ Gangubai Kathiawadi to release on 25th February 2022."

The film will have its much-awaited premiere at the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.

The film features Alia Bhatt in the title role of Gangubai. The actress plays one of the most powerful, loved, and respected madams from Kamathipura. It will have Ajay Devgn and Huma Qureshi playing important parts. Bhansali is co-producing the film with Gada’s Pen India Limited.
