MUMBAI: The casting couch in Bollywood is a topic, which is in the news from the past few decades. The Badhaai Ho actress, Neena Gupta recently opened up on her casting couch experience, as she revealed that once a south producer called her in a room to discuss about her role. “‘The heroine’s friend,’ he said. When he explained it to me, it seemed like a very small part. ‘Ok … I have to go now, sir’ I said, ‘My friends are waiting for me.’….’Go? Where? he asked. He seemed genuinely shocked. Aren’t you going to spend the night here?’ Suddenly, I felt like someone had just poured a bucket of ice water on my head. Khoon sookh gaya (My blood froze),” said Neena. Though this not the first time, where actress have faced such things. Earlier several stars opened up about their horrific experience of casting couch.
Kangana Ranaut
The National-award winning actress spoke about casting couch in Bollywood to a news channel and said, Main yeh nahi kehti ke main sabko generalise kr ri hu. But, main jisko mili hu, A List, B List, Biggest superstars, the expectation from a girl is to behave like a wife on sets. next film comes, next hero comes. This is the truth of the industry.
Radhika Apte
The Kabali actress too recalled of facing a casting couch as she said, “I think once an actor in South called me on my room phone and tried to get flirtatious and I just was so rude to him. I think he fought with me later on. But anyway, I haven’t ever got a request saying that you have to sleep with us. Oh, once I got a call and they said ‘they’re doing this film in Bollywood and I want you to have a meeting with them. But would you be okay sleeping with that person?’ And I laughed! I said you’re so funny, you’re very funny and I said no I’m not. Ask him to go to hell.”

Chitrangda Singh
The talented actress revealed that casting couch exists in industry and she said in an interview to SpotBoye, “There are people like this everywhere. Right from my modelling days to Bollywood, I have seen them at all times. Corporate industry is just as bad. Yes, it has happened with me but I would like to say that the Bollywood industry is not the place where anybody forces you. There is enough space and respect for everyone and their choices. You do feel bad when you lose an opportunity but then those are the choices you make. So, you don’t sulk about it.”
Tisca Chopra
The Taare Zameer Pan star opened about the infamous casting couch with a director as she faced and said, They said, but you know, agreeing to do a film with him is like agreeing to be his pet squeeze for the duration of the shoot. Are you okay with that?
Surveen Chawla
The Sacred Games star revealed that she has faced casting couch in south and told PinkVilla, “Then came south and that was my biggest blow. I faced casting couch thrice. There was a time I was told to accompany a film director for a recce and I was told ‘I want to know every inch of your body’. I just started ignoring calls from then on.”
