MUMBAI: It was in 2010 that Ranveer Singh marked his debut with the film Band Baaja Baaraat. The actor featured in the film with actress Anushka Sharma and went on to bag several awards for his stellar performance that year. As actor Rajat Barmecha also entered Bollywood the same year as Ranveer Singh with film Udaan, he opens up about how he was jealous of his arch-rival back then. Now, in an interview, the Udaan star mentioned he was a little disheartened as Ranveer bagged the Best Actor Award for Band Baaja Baaraat.

Rajat Barmecha opened up about his initial days in Bollywood during an interview and how he was jealous as Ranveer Singh who started his career the same year had swooped the Best Actor award at all the events. Rajat said, "In 2013, almost all the awards went to Udaan. It even got the Best Film award. But when it came to announcing the Best Actor, it was Ranveer and not me, and I was a little disheartened at that time."

The actor then went on to talk about how everyone had praised him a lot for his work in the film but shared how he couldn’t digest the fact that even after the film got the Best Film award, he didn’t get the Best Actor. He added, “Everyone had praised me a lot for my work in the film. Amitabh Bachchan even wrote a blog about me and Udaan. So I couldn't digest the fact that even after Udaan got the Best Film award, how was I not the best actor? I was present in each and every frame throughout the film.” 

He also revealed that there was one event where Ranveer and he both got the Best Actor and had to share it. He then mentioned how Ranveer had made him lift the award because he knew how much it meant to him. Rajat also shared during the interview that it was all when he was just 21-years-old and called himself quite naive. Talking about himself, Barmecha said, “I was quite naive then and these feelings were only a product of my naivety.”

Meanwhile, Rajat Barmecha mentioned that he never had any hard feelings for Ranveer or never wished anything bad for him. The Udaan actor revealed that over the years he has become more mature and finds these stories really funny in today’s times and continued to share that he wouldn't react the same way if such a thing happened today. He finally concluded and said, “Also, I am not jealous of Ranveer anymore.”
