Team Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami recently paid an ode to legendary cartoonist R K Laxman’s much loved creation ‘The Common Man’ by garlanding the statute in Mumbai. Led by Anupam Kher, who plays a common man in Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami, the cast and crew of the movie offered their salutations to the statue of the ‘Common Man’ that has today come to represent the hopes, aspirations, troubles and foibles of the average Indian.
And when creator of India’s quintessential ‘common man’ RK Laxman himself learnt about team Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami's fine endeavour, there arouse a deep desire in the legendary cartoonist's mind to meet the entire team and he immediately asked his daughter to call Anupam Kher to arrange for a meeting.
Delighted at the invitation, Anupam along with the producer of Ekkees Toppon Ki Salaami, Abhinav Shukla, co-producer Asheema Shukla and lead actor Divyendu Sharma promptly arrived at Laxman’s home in Mumbai. After a warm welcome, the team had a heart-to heart talk with the master cartoonist who expressed his happiness at their endeavour of honouring his best know cartoon character.
Indeed a noble deed, we say. The movie releases on 10 October and is being produced by Nautanki Films.
