The Maverick moviemaker who romanticised the Swiss Alps and made his characters fall in love amid the lush beauty of Switzerland has got the most fitting prize from the country.
Yash Chopra, who would have immensely appreciated this gesture, has been honoured with a special statue by the government, an official report released by Yash Raj Films has said.
The statute, weighing 250kgs, was inaugurated on Wednesday by the late director's wife Pamela and daughter-in-law Rani Mukherjee, near the Congress Center. The tourist-rich place will further attract his fans to visit the iconic place.
This is not the first time the filmmaker has gotten such an honour from Switzerland. In 2011, he was awarded the honorary title of Ambassador of Interlaken, while Jungfrau Railways named a train after him. In fact, Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa in Interlaken also named a suite after him.
We miss you Yash Chopra!
