MUMBAI: The box-office collections of Akshay Kumar’s Gold have continued to stay strong since its release. Once again, Akshay seems to have hit the bull’s eye.
Gold has earned an estimated Rs 88.9 crore at the box office since its release on Independence Day. According to a trade aggregator, Gold started off with Rs 25.25 crore on the opening day.
The film, directed by Reema Kagti, also stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh, and Kunal Kapoor.
Akshay has been giving consecutive hits since 2015 and proves himself to be the most bankable actor in Bollywood again. Gold is Akshay's biggest Bollywood opener ever.
The film revolves around the golden era of Indian hockey and shows the journey of Tapan Das, a young assistant manager who dreams of playing for an independent country. The film recreates India's historic gold win for hockey at the 1948 Olympics.
Popular TV star Mouni Roy, who plays Akshay's wife in the film, makes her Bollywood debut with it.
