Best known for his role in Star Plus’ Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, Abhaas Mehta believes in having a healthy diet along with complete rest. His body reflects the kind of positive attitude he carries. In a candid chat with Tellychakkar.com, he shares his fitness mantras. Personal fitness mantra: I make sure that I complete eight hours sleep with a regular workout in a gym. I also like to have a clean and a healthy diet. Personal diet mantra: I am very diet conscious. I try to have small meals 6 to 8 times a day and see to it that my diet doesn’t consist of excessive carbohydrates. Some people have a misconception that eating less will make them look fit, but according to me, fitness comes by having proper food after an interval of 3 hours and a complete 8 hours of sleep. Exercise routine: I workout for one hour 5 to 6 days per week. Is food the elixir of life? Not exactly for me, because now my diet concentrates more on the fitness angle. But, yes you can’t deny that it is a building block of our body. Are you a foodie? Not anymore. Are you a vegetarian or a non-vegetarian? I am a hardcore non-vegetarian. Favourite cuisine: Steak. Favourite dish: Rajma chawal and pizzas. Favourite restaurant: None in particular. A must on my breakfast table: Eggs and my protein shake. Sugar or sugar-free tea/coffee: I prefer only green tea. Lunch generally consists of: Chicken and vegetables. Dinner generally consists of: Chicken, fish and salad. Dessert delights: I don’t like dessert. One thing I can't resist: Pizza. My favourite drink (non-alcoholic): Nimbu Pani. My favourite drink (alcoholic): Whisky. At parties I have: Whisky if available or else nothing. Most unusual dish I've tasted: Organ meat. Experiment with food: I do try sometimes by staying in my comfort zone. On the streets, I love to have: Kebabs. Do you cook? Sometimes. Fitness tip: Many a time, people go to a gym but it doesn’t really work out positively for everybody. According to me, fitness comes from your bedroom and kitchen. If your diet as well as rest goes hand-in-hand then fitness will be the only result. Don’t starve because starving will reduce your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). Try and have food after an interval of every 3 hours.
