All is not well on the sets of NDTV Imagine and Sunrise Telefilms’ Palkon ki chaon mein. We have heard of actors throwing their weight around but this time it is actors who are allegedly at the receiving end. Rumour has it that the show’s actors are being ill treated by few production personnel in particularly, the supervising producer Akhilesh. It is alleged that seasoned actress Meenaxi Sethi (Teen Bahuraaniyan fame) quit the show due to the ill-treatment meted out by Akhilesh. She is now replaced by Anuradha Adhyaksh, who essayed the role of Badi maa in Raja ki aayegi baraat. An actor requesting says, “All the actors have been complaining about the treatment they are getting from the production unit. Forget the junior artists they haven’t even spared the seasoned and veteran actors. Recently, popular actress Meenaxi Sethi quit the show after Akhilesh insulted her openly.” Adding further, the actor says, “Actors on the show are expected to shoot in inhuman conditions. They expect six actors to share one vanity van and on top of that they are not given enough time for make-up. In fact, Indira Krishnan was reduced to tears after Akhilesh was rude to her. Lead actress Amrapali Dubey too was subject to this ill treatment but she no longer takes any trash from him.” However the word coming out from the production house is different. “Meenaxi walked out on us and we were left with no option than to replace her. She didn’t get along well with anyone on the sets. She never treated anyone properly and used to belittle everyone including the spot boys. There was an important scene during Ganeshchaturthi for which she was required but the actress was adamant on leaving the sets. Even the director of the show tried to reason with her but she refused to listen,” said a production official. Sethi though rubbished these rumours. She said, “I have quit the show on medical grounds and I have parted ways amicably.” Akhilesh, the man at the centre of the muddle, angrily said, “All this is rubbish!” Producer Rashmi Sharma was unavailable for comment.
