MUMBAI: Showbiz is one such place where a lot of people aspire to establish their name in different areas.

Be it actors, actresses, choreographers, directors, producers, and many more. Out of all this, one important aspect of any project be it film, TV, web show, or a music video is the role of a casting director.

This is one such profession that is gaining prominence these days.

Earlier, no one really knew anything about casting directors and how they operate.

But with the rise of social media and other technologies, things in the entertainment industry have started to function in a different way.

A casting director is the backbone of every project without which things can't be taken further.

There are several casting directors who have made their mark in the industry and are doing well for themselves.

They are the ones who have given us some of the most talented actors and actresses who are today big names.

Amid the dozens of casting directors who have already risen to prominence in this field, Ashish Singh is one of them who is doing quite well.

The talented casting director has shone brilliantly in his long career and his achievements are reaching sky high with every passing day.

Apart from being a popular and experienced casting director, Ashish is also an aspiring actor who wants to make a successful career in the acting field as well.

Casting journey...

I have been in this field for almost 7 years now. I work with my partner Vishal Sharma who has been with me from the start. Earlier, we were in Optimystix, then we also worked with Balaji, and many more. Currently, we are working with LSD films. We have done the casting for the show Radha Mohan for Zee TV.

My journey has been great in the casting field. I didn't know anything about casting when I came to Mumbai. Then I met Vishal in the gym where I used to be a gym trainer. He really helped me a lot and is my mentor.

Career as an actor

I came to Mumbai to become an actor. I am still giving auditions. However, I have not got the right and exciting offer yet which can make my career reach new heights as an actor. One has to keep in mind an alternate career. So, I took up casting as a profession. Meanwhile, I am still finding the right break to make my screen appearance as an actor.

Future vision...

I don't know much about the future but I'll start with my acting career next year itself. I'll start with it this year and see how it goes. It is a long process and takes time to materialize. I'll hopefully cast myself in the coming show. I am someone who goes with the flow. I live in the present and want to do good work.

Message to the aspiring casting directors...

I would tell them to work with dedication. Casting is all about luck. Sometimes we suggest numerous options to the makers and no one gets selected from that. But there are times when we just suggest two or three options and they immediately selected one of those. It's all about luck but at the same time, you have to be very knowledgeable. One has to work smartly. Basically, casting is smart work and not hard work. If the casting director correctly uses his vision, he will definitely succeed. The casting comes with experience. In the initial days of my casting, we used to call several artists. It was quite pressurizing. We had to meet the deadlines. But now, we know the process, so it becomes easy with time and experience.

Ashish also revealed that it is extremely challenging to pursue two professions at the same time as it gets too hectic at times. But he still believes in not giving up and just goes on to chase his dreams.

Here's wishing Ashish Singh good luck for his future endeavours!
