MUMBAI: Sony TV’s Kyun Utthe Dil Chhod Aaye has become one of the most celebrated shows on television. The show has not only touched hearts but reminded a lot of people about their past. The cast leaves no stone unturned to portray the dreadful partition like a living memoir. Amdheer’s love is a soothing breeze in the heat of history.
Gurdeep Kohli is all set to enter the show in the role of Kaveri Pratab Singh, she is Ranisa aka Nalini’s sister-in-law. Her entry is marked post-Veer’s sudden death. She is coming to make lives miserable for Nalini, Amrit and Randheer.
In an exclusive conversation with Gurdeep, We asked her about the Criticism that comes with a negative role and her preparation for the look of Kaveri Pratab Singh, “I am a very comfortable actor, for me, criticism is a part of the appreciation. It totally means I am playing the part very well. I am not afraid of playing a negative role as I wanted to experiment with something with my character. As an actor, I wanted a challenge and I am accepting it.”
“With a negative role, we have a lot of scopes to play with the character. One can always stylize the character and give a “hatke” mannerism to it. Some scenes actually reminded me of my previous shows where I was going through the torture as a “Bechari” and now I am playing an antagonist and doing the same with that little girl, I am actually enjoying this change in roles.” She added.
Gurdeep shares how the look has been created for Kaveri, “I normally don’t wear a lot of makeup onscreen, not even in my previous roles. But here I have defined my eyebrows, sharpen my features. I have tried to have a detailed look, not loud. As the era is 50’s attire is Saree but I have tried to play around with the Pallu and its draping style.”
