Zee TV’s late night show Phir Subah Hogi (Panglosean Entertainment and Undercover Productions) is not doing too well on the TRP front. This Narayani Shastri and Varun Badola led show is currently rating only 0.8 TVR. Producer Saurabh Srivastava attributes this low rating to the ongoing extreme cold wave conditions in North India. “Most people in the hinterland are not even watching TV after 9 pm…leave alone our show which airs at 11pm,” he quips. However he is hopeful that things will get better once February sets in. Did the absence of Narayani from the show since the last one month also lead to the above dip? “No, the plot is structured in such a way that everyone is important to the narrative. Anyway she will return this month,” he answers. Saurabh says that his show will help the current wave of pro-woman protests raging across the country. “In the coming weeks, we will have certain tracks which will give a fillip to the movement as well. The very nature of our story is such that it creates awareness about the exploitation of a certain community of women in Madhya Pradesh.” When asked as to what was the reason for shifting the show from its earlier 9.30 pm slot, he avers, “We felt that given the bold nature of the narrative, we could experiment more in the late night slot. Having said that, we can’t go too much on the bolder side as our TV audience is still family driven.” The show, the rating of which was around 2 TVR when it was shifted to the late night slot, initially slid to around 1.2 and since then has kept on dropping.
