Rajan Shahi has immense faith in me- Paayal Kapoor Nair

MUMBAI: Actress Paayal Kapoor Nair has a long working relationship with Rajan Shahi, currently, she is seen in an important role in Anupamaa. Speaking of which Payal says, “My association with Rajan Shahi goes back to the popular show, Bidaai days, in which I played the role of a South Indian woman. Then I was the antagonist in Chand Chhupa Badal Mein which was also a successful show. And recently I acted as a lawyer in Yeh Rishta Kyq Kehlata Hai.  Working with Director’s Kut Production is a home ground for me. I’m so comfortable working with this crew, especially Romesh Kalra and Vivek. Romesh Karla is a director who I’ve known from my first daily show. And Vivek,  the creative director who I know from a show called Bhabhi which I was part of. I am so glad that Rajanji always remembers me whenever he finds something different he would cast me as.  Rajan Shahi has immense faith in me and knowing that, as an artist, is such a wonderful feeling.”

“When I played  Damini Mishra, a lawyer,  in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai , the script was so well written. The way Romesh had directed it was spectacular. I had a theatrical experience. I prepared a lot for the character, especially the body language of a lawyer. I was given a lot of freedom as an artist.” 

Talking about Anupamaa, Payal feels the characters of the show is very relatable. She adds,”The story of Anupamaa, a house wife that dedicated her life to her family. She  is such a simpleton who comes from a very humble background and is always on her toes for her family. Whether it’s her aged in-laws, her grown up kids or her husband, she’s always there for everyone in the family. Her own wishes and desires has taken a backseat. It is so endearing. The middle-class housewives will all relate to this as they would never imagine stepping out of their house for work, earning a salary and being independent. As the story unfolds, there will be more interesting characters and new tracks will be explored. I am playing the character of Parul Sharma who is the principal of the school  Anupamaa’s daughter goes to. Right now, I can only say she will be crucial in Anupamaa’s life as she sees the talent in Anupamaa and will make her realise her worth.”
