Earlier in the match, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted an imposing total of 209/8 in their 20 overs, appearing in complete control at 161/2 by the 14th over. Nicholas Pooran’s explosive 75 off 30 deliveries and Mitchell Marsh’s rapid 72 off 36 powered an 87-run stand, putting DC on the back foot. However, a spirited fightback led by Mitchell Starc and Kuldeep Yadav saw LSG lose momentum, triggering a late collapse.
LSG skipper Rishabh Pant endured a debut to forget, departing for a duck, which marked the beginning of his side’s struggles. Meanwhile, KL Rahul’s much-anticipated debut for Delhi Capitals was postponed as he was by his wife Athiya Shetty’s side for the birth of their daughter. His absence, however, was soon overshadowed by what turned out to be one of the most exhilarating IPL encounters in recent memory.
