The Multiplex Association of India released a statement on Thursday announcing the National Cinema Day for this year. “Mark your calendars for Friday, October 13th, as The Multiplex Association of India (MAI) and cinemas all over India unite once again to bring you National Cinema Day,” read the announcement. On that day, tickets will cost Rs 99 at the majority of significant movie theatre chains and independent screens across India. Over 4000 movie theatres from all over India will participate in this project this year, according to a release from MAI.
The statement of MAI reads, “National Cinema Day this year will unfold across more than 4000 participating screens, including renowned cinemas like PVR INOX, CINEPOLIS, MIRAJ, CITYPRIDE, ASIAN, MUKTA AZ, MOVIE TIME, WAVE, M2K, DELITE, and many others.”
Like last year, a number of single-screen owners are anticipated to participate. According to the MAI, there might be some additional ticket and food-and-beverage deals that will be announced at the participating theatres, on their websites, and on their social media pages.
On September 23, more than 65 lakh tickets were sold, making National Cinema Day 2022 a great success. Many movie theatres reported having a full house for the first time in years, and the collections of the movies showing at that time increased.
There are no significant releases in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, or any other language on the weekend of October 13. However, a few titles from earlier weeks are probably still in demand. The Vaccine War by Vivek Agnihotri, which debuts on September 28 together with Fukrey 3, is the largest of them.
The movie Mission Raniganj, starring Akshay Kumar, which debuted on October 6, will also profit. Both Vijay Antony's Raththam and Muttiah Muralitharan's Tamil biopic 800 have release dates on the same day.
