Writer Manoj Muntashir has denied all allegations that he copied Teri Mitti's song 'Kesari' from a Pakistani song. Recently, there have been several allegations against Muntashir on social media, the first of which suggests that his popular and patriotic song Teri Mitti was copied from a 2005 song from Pakistan.
Speaking to ETimes Muntashir revealed that, “Those making these allegations should kindly check the video which has been uploaded many months after the release of our film, ‘Kesari’. And for your kind information the singer is not Pakistani but our very own Indian folk singer Geeta Rabari. You can call and check with her, too.”
He further added that he knows Rabari personally and she’s always maintained a reverence around his creations. He said, “Geetaji has always appreciated my work and you can even ask her.”
Muntashir was yet again reminded that critics have made accusations not only against Teri Mitti, but also of plagiarism of other songs and poems. Criticisms of his creations are also full of criticism on social media. We asked Muntashir why there were suddenly so many accusations against him and he said: “People attacked me for the video I made about the Mughals, in which I used strong words against them and glorified them as so-called thieves. "
He sarcastically stated that “If my YouTube videos and retelling of correct history upsets someone, they are most welcome to reason with me. But don't disrespect a song that has become an anthem for the armed forces. It's not acceptable.”
