MUMBAI: If Kangana Ranaut and Deepika Padukone ever perform together, it could be something remarkable. Both women are excellent actresses. If the two actresses, who are viewed as arch rivals, could have gotten along and connected well, this might have come to pass. In order to maintain a friendly relationship, they even reached out to one another with olive branches, but the move backfired when Kangana left the premiere of her own movie after spotting DP there!

When Deepika Padukone won an award for Happy New Year in 2014, she publicly thanked Kangana Ranaut for her success and declared that she was the true queen that year. However, annoyed Kangana, wondered why Deepika didn't call to congratulate her on Queen but stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan did. She also publicly stated that she hopes Deepika directly communicates with her about her feelings. When DP learned about this media controversy, she took the appropriate action. She made the call to Kangana as the ‘Queen’ had instructed.
However, Kangana Ranaut disclosed in an interview with a well-known news site, “Deepika called me, and clarified that she had no personal equation with me to make a direct call (to appreciate her performance in Queen). Also, I explained to her how it would have been unjust for me to publicly acknowledge an award from her when I have decided not to attend any awards functions. It was an emotional and heartfelt conversation. I appreciate that she called me; she is truly courteous and very emotional, and I just love that.”
According to reports, Deepika did not appreciate the excessive detail. She did invite Kangana to Piku's screening and the subsequent victory party after burying their disagreements. The Manikarnika actress went to both screenings and anticipated that Tanu Weds Manu Returns' screening will be the following year. But DP let go of the invitation, which clearly displeased the Queen!
Deepika Padukone's absence so infuriated Kangana Ranaut that she publicly stated, “I did extend an invite to Deepika, but I never got a response. I have always been supportive of my contemporaries and will continue to be, but it is hurtful when you don’t get the same kind of support,” as quoted by a popular news portal.
Later, it was claimed that Krishika Lulla, the producer, had sent the invitation to Deepika for the Tanu Weds Manu Returns victory party, rather than Kangana, who had declined. Kangana couldn't stand it when she saw DP at the celebration and left the victory party for her own movie.
Since then, there has been an ongoing, seemingly pointless cold war. DP just received acclaim from Kangana for her performance on the Oscar platform.
