MUMBAI: Colors’ Choti Sarrdaarni is among the most popular shows on TV. The leads of the daily soap, Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia and Mahir Pandhi, recently quit it, which led to a major twist in the plot.
Amandeep Sidhu, who was last seen in Teri Meri Ikk Jindri, is now playing the new female lead opposite Gaurav S Bajaj in the show.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actress and asked how it has been shooting for the show. She replied, “Well, it’s been quite hectic, as we were shooting in Dalhousie, but, at the same time, very exciting. I shot at a hill station for the first time, and it was the best experience. Moreover, it is lovely to work with Gaurav, as we are both Punjabis and we gel very well. He is a very nice human being and a great actor. I get to learn a lot from him and my director.”
Talking about the character, Amandeep shared, “I am playing the role of Mannat, who is Seher’s sister. She is a very happy-go-lucky girl, who shares a good bond with her neighbours. However, she is sad as doesn’t have her own family.”
Are there any similarities between you and Mannat? “Yes, to a large extent. In fact, everyone on the sets tells me that Mannat and Amandeep are almost the same. I am a very bubby person. I am glad that I can relate to my character.”
Do you feel the pressure of living up to the audiences’ expectations? “It’s not only about Choti Sarrdaarni. Even if I would have taken up any other show, there would have been some pressure to live up to audience expectations. But I am hoping that viewers watch a few episodes and then judge us. We have been working very hard, and I am sure people will love me as Mannat and Gaurav as Zoravar.”
Keep up the good work, Amandeep!
