TV stars react to beheading of two Indian soldiers in Kashmir... some call for an all out war... others advocate peace

India and Pakistan are like Siamese twins joined at the hip. No wonder we two South Asian neighbors always have extreme approaches towards each other. When things are “normal” you have the peace brigade espousing Aman Ki Asha and people are seen exchanging lots of jhappis-paapis at the Wagha border. But with just one untoward so called terrorist or aggressive activity sends the feeling of brotherhood out of the window and everyone wants to snap all ties with Pakistan and vice versa. Now we all know that tension is paramount on the Kashmir border region pertaining to the barbaric beheading of two Indian soldiers by the Pakistan army. Some believe it is time for India to flex military muscles while others believe that peace should only be the solution. So we decided to check what your favourite TV starts have to say about it. Let’s find out… Anas Rashid (Diya Aur Baati Hum) said, “Balanced heads need to prevail in New Delhi. We are a much more developed country and therefore much to lose if war breaks out. Pakistan has nothing to lose so they will keep instigating us. We need to localize such small incidents and prevent things from spiraling out of control. Any hasty step can lead to the rupturing of the communal fabric of our great nation. We can’t see Hindu-Muslim tensions simmering all over again. The action of a few leads to the whole leading minority community being branded as terrorists.” Aman Verma on the other hand shared, “Enough is enough, we can’t have our soldiers beheaded like this. It is high time the govt took serious steps (covert action) to make Islamabad pay.” He also said that the govt should immediately send all Pak artists packing home. “You can’t talk peace and kill us at the same time.” He further lamented the fact, “that successive govts in New Delhi have refused to toe the hard line against Rawalpindi (Pak military hub) for the fear of losing the Muslim vote bank.” “I am pained to see that there are a large number of Muslims even in India even now who regard themselves as Pakistanis. What also restricts our ability to fight back is the quality of our leadership, we can’t expect Manmohan and Sonia Gandhi to ever teach Pakistan a lesson. That might have been possible, if we either had Sushma Swaraj or Narendra Modi at the helm of affairs at the centre,” ended Aman. Samir Soni (Parichay) on his part took the view that, “there are certain elements in both India and Pak who benefit from this fear of war.” “The entire armament bazaar thrives on this primal emotion. Weapons of mass destruction are never meant to be used but only to instill a sense of fear in the hearts and minds of general populace in all belligerent nations.” He further is hopeful that things will soon sober down (he seems to be right with DGMO of both countries agreeing to lowering tension). “This has happened several times before and will continue in the future, so no real reason to worry.” He also rejected the notion that Pak artist should be sent home. “This is business, there are many in India who make money by harnessing the talents of these Pak artists. As to those who say that Islamabad does not reciprocate, which Indian artist wants to go there in the first place?” Next we had a word with Sara Khan and she opined, “Enough tension, we both now need to work for peace and prosperity. There are a large number of divided families who suffer. I sincerely hope that both nations one day become close and forget the wounds of the past and march ahead for the betterment of the entire subcontinent.” Mouni Roy shared, “The govt needs to take some hard action, the beheading of our brave jawans and other incidents like Mumbai attacks are unacceptable. We have been talking for far too long with no results. The pussy footing needs to stop. I also believe that debates and marches settle nothing, the govt needs to make up its mind asap.” Finally, Amit Behl divulged, “Pakistan needs to be straightened out once and for all. That bankrupt country is nothing compared to us. Our northern command is enough to teach them a lesson, leave aside the southern and western commands. Let’s face it, we are much more powerful. If an unlikely war was ever to happen, India will be pushed by a few years, but they will be totally destroyed.” He furthered stated, “I am very pleased by the way the army commanders on the ground have clearly told the political establishment that we will not take such tribal behavior anymore.” Well…do send in your comments…
